This pleco lives in and around the Orinoco River in Venezuela. They have a blue tinge to their body and many white to white-blue spots covering them for a striking appearance. These are a smaller variety of pleco only obtaining 6-7” in adulthood. They prefer acidic water (6.0-7.0) and their temperature should be between 70-78°F. As with all plecos driftwood should be a part of their tank decoration as it is an important part of their diet. Rocks, medium to large size, and flowing water from a power head will duplicate their natural environment quite well. They will clear a tank of algae but should be supplemented with fresh vegetables (like zucchini), algae wafers, and they won’t turn down small meaty items either. |
